All change at the Izaak
You’ll have noticed new faces at the Izaak this month…
Jean-Claude (who also runs the nearby Black Lake pub) did a great job of holding things together in the recent interim in the winter of 2011/2012, and thanks must go to him for simply keeping it open.
But, in March 2012, the owners of The Izaak, Carl Inns (which owns another twenty or so pubs across the Midlands) installed Zandy & Karen as the new managers.
Both Zandy and Karen, a lovely young couple, are chefs by trade, and are also very experienced managers, having ‘rescued’ a number of pubs for Carl Inns over the last year.
The pair have brought in an experienced front-of-house ‘face’ in Frankie, whose job it is to be friendly and helpful. You’ll see her behind the bar a lot.
But – Frankie needs no teaching – she seems to be naturally friendly anyway.
One thing however will not change – the snug bar area will be retained, so someone who just fancies dropping in for a couple of pints only will still be welcome. Thank goodness for that.
There’s no website yet, or email contact, but the telephone number is what it always has been: (01782) 392265
All I can say is: The Izaak has been a hostelry since at least the 1850s… I’d like to see it make it to its 200th anniversary.
