Draycott Photo: Lonely kissing gate

One great thing about the Draycott area is the amount of footpaths.  Believe it or not, there are fourteen miles of footpaths in this small area, and in this better weather, it’s a joy to be able to walk them.

But this kissing gate in a field near Newton always makes us smile…

Draycott kissing gate

All alone, with nothing to do…

It stands all alone in the middle of a field, so, of course, it’s quite easy just to walk round it.  Which makes one ask… why is it there?
Maybe it marks an old field boundary.

But I guess the more romantic among us do find it quite convenient to choose to go through it anyway…
