The unveiling of the Ken Shelley Memorial Bench

When Ken Shelley, the former and long-standing chairman of the parish council, passed away in March, many felt the loss very keenly.
As a man committed to this area and its way of life, he had had an impact on the village.  His family had farmed here for many years, as they do even now.

It’s not surprising that locals wanted to pay tribute to his life.

So the community action group VVSM arranged for a plaque in his memory to be placed on the bench that stands by the Cresswell Information Centre.

As you can see in the photo, it was formally unveiled by present Draycott Parish Council chairman Tony Fletcher and fellow council member John Ford.  Father David Hartley of Cresswell St Mary’s Church looks on approvingly.
