Lent Lunch at St Mary’s RC Church in Cresswell
The ‘Draycott Dole’ – a 500 year old tradition – is distributed at St Margaret’s Church. The gift, from the estate of an ancient will, is handed out to ‘the poor’ on Mothering Sunday (two weeks before Easter).
The ‘Parish Assembly’/Village Assembly for Draycott & Cresswell & Totmonslow. (This is NOT a meeting of the parish council, but a forum in which the electors themselves can set the agenda). There are usually reviews of the past year given by the various political representatives, which must be followed by an open forum to question them. All village community organisations are also invited to ‘display their wares’ at this event.
It must be held in either March, April or May.
The ‘Annual Meeting of All Parishioners of Draycott-le-Moors’ takes place at St Margaret’s Church, usually followed by the AGM of the Draycott Parochial Church Council (PCC). Any resident of Draycott (not just church members) is entitled to attend. There are elections for churchwarden posts and for membership of the PCC.
Publication of the St. Margaret’s Church Trustees Annual Report.
